Tod’s

Who: To celebrate the brand’s first co-ed runway, Tod’s invited two of China’s highest-paid actors—Wu Xiubo and Vicky Zhao to the show. Anwar Hadid also joined his sisters, Gigi and Bella on the catwalk this season.

Where: The show was held at its usual location—the PAC Museum of Contemporary, before moving to the Ritz in Paris to reveal a new collab with Italian designer Alessandro dell’Acqua.

The Low-down: This Spring/Summer 2019, it’s all about the ‘Italian attitude’. The mix of masculinity and femininity vibe was pulled together by oh-so-relaxed silhouettes, and the result? A joyful collection that exuded a sense of ease. Its leather and suede materials felt light for Spring; there was an Xtra Light Trench that had a nice flow with every step, and patchwork bomber jackets with panels of different textures, complete with a bandana tied around the neck. Same goes for menswear. Mostly made up of pantsuits, they were a right balance between casual and dressy—perfect for almost any occasion. Bags-wise, expect little updates in the form of an interlinked leather strap adorning the D-Bow bag, and also lace-up sandals that are a girly alternative to the signature Gomminos.

Buro Loves: We have never thought about donning leather blazer, until now. The snakeskin piece will be a standout, for sure. Also, how pretty is the blush pink colour-spotted on Gigi Hadid?

Sportmax

Where: The show venue was kept minimal with plain white walls, seats and floors.

The Low-down: “Adrenalin, strength and freedom take over”, the show notes read. This season, the collection was all about the world of surfing. During the day, parkas over bikinis and hints of tailoring are the way to go, but at night, change into flowy jersey dresses and leather leggings, and swap the surfer sandals to a pair of ankle-strap heels. You can find water and wind elements in the looks too. Sheer nylon in geometric print-layered-resulted in a sporty, eye-catching finish, not forgetting the bucket hats that sealed the ensembles.

Buro Loves: The heavily layered parka look that’ll make rainy days extra stylish.

Versace

Who: The Tribute show last September may have the most epic finale of all time, but you can still trust Donatella Versace to bring out some big guns every show. This season, ’90s Canadian supermodel Shalom Harlow who made her comeback on the runway after a six-year hiatus. Danish model Freja Beha also made a rare appearance this fashion month and opened for Versace.

Where: The floor of its show space at the Palazzo delle Scintille was covered in patchwork carpet in clashing stripe-and-plaid prints.

The Low-down: More is more has always been Versace’s aesthetic, and this season, it’s no different. Bright and bold hues and a plethora of clashing prints were the focal of the collection, as Cher Horowitz-inspired looks kicked off the show, before the floral ensembles -given the patchwork treatment-were sent down the runway. Asymmetrical tops and dresses in spring blooms were given an amp-me-up with leopard, stripe and geometric prints, with hints of throwback references injected throughout. Case in point: ruched skirts and miniskirts, and a slip dresses with ultra-thin straps. The accessories were equally-if not more-eye-catching. Versace’s version of dad sneakers-Chain Reaction-have been enjoying pretty good success so far, and the brand has introduced a new version.

Buro Loves: All the beautiful blooms that injected a dose of femininity into the collection this season, from the jewellery to hairpins and RTW.
