Chanel Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture in photos

Inside the Grand Palais Éphémère, a horse opened the Chanel Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture show. More precisely, Charlotte Casiraghi––house ambassador, muse to the late Karl Lagerfeld, and granddaughter of Grace Kelly––opened the presentation on horseback at a surreal show jumping set. This décor, designed by artist Xavier Veilham as a nod to the aesthetics of Universal Exhibitions, acted as a framework “where I felt very free,” said Virginie Viard. “These geometric shapes made me want contrasts, a great lightness and a lot of freshness.” Such was a collection punctuated by the designer's laidback-luxe appeal, with impeccably tailored twin sets and ethereal dresses floating down the runway as if suspended. With the help of the house's artisan partners, quintessentially Chanel embellishments shone bright against a subdued palette of blacks, blues and whites before extravagant takes appeared in the form of modern suits and floor-grazing gowns for the grand finale.
