To dissect Miuccia Prada’s intention and inspiration behind Miu Miu S/S’16 is like listening to a cacophonous orchestra playing and then trying to pick a favourite instrumentalist from one specific section. On one hand, it didn’t have to always make sense either, for example: a turquoise fur stole paired with purple sheer blouse over a checkered shirt, worn with a grey plaid skirt and bright red heels (plus mismatched ribbons tied around ankles.)
But on the other hand, it actually came together in a discordant manner that Miu Miu is known for. This season’s hottest trend—lingerie-inspired everything—translated to frilly sheer nighties layered over tops; and there was an eyeful of prints from candlesticks to geometric shapes that were weird and wonderful in a way. Fall silhouettes still dominated despite everything, with luxe leather jackets, double-breasted coats and rockstar, lace-up platform boots. It was a contrast of all sorts and albeit the absence of utilitarianism, the collection was wayward yet beautifully intriguing—only the best way of closing Paris Fashion Week S/S’16.
