PFW SS16: Haider Ackermann

A gang of girls that have personalities who were going for whatever they wanted, wherever the road was,” Haider Ackermann says of the throng of girls who traipsed on the runway clad in cropped leather jackets and low-slung trousers from his S/S’16 collection.

It was a punk parade of pastels and silk as Ackermann delivered a collection worthy to be worn by a girl who embraces her wild side, while not wanting to forgo her love for all things girly and sensual. Pretty chiffon blouses and ruffled details idling around the neck were thrown off-balance with the ruggedness of leather trousers and masculine blazers, and candy-coloured hair strands that mimicked cotton candy gave the collection a dash of whimsical.

The final look just about summarised the theme easily—a leather biker jacket worn over a pink silk fishtail dress with black lace detailing on the hemline. It was tasteful yet tough, an apparent shift from Ackermann’s typically darker, introspective pieces while retaining a strong sense of femininity.
