You can tell from Giambattista Valli’s S/S’16 collection of florals and ruffles that a Valli girl is feminine yet sophisticated, not overly archaic with romanticism, and loves to hang out once in a while clad in fun frisky minidresses with disco-worthy glitter on her eyelids.
The collection saw an array of 60s inspired modish shift dresses that will appeal to the likes of a young Diane Kruger (or Amal Clooney while we’re at it). It withheld a Valli-esque aesthetic while keeping the silhouettes current: floral embroidered miniskirts, shimmery tweed jacket-and-skirt pairings, gently ruffled hemlines and sleeves—all paired with knee-high gladiator sandals for a touch of bohemian.
70s-inspired hippie references were obvious—sheer floral gowns, high ruffled collars, and a sunshine yellow, billowy dress with a plunging neckline that Gigi Hadid wore for the closing look.
