Who: #FROW regulars at Coach were in attendance, including face of the brand Selena Gomez, Maisie Williams, and Whoopi Goldberg, while models such as Kaia Gerber, Kiko Mizuhara and Dree Hemingway walked in the show.

Where: The show space, Pier 94, was decked in accordance to the inspiration of the collection. The star of the show was placed right smack in the middle of the runway: Bronty, a 20 feet tall and 100 feet long dinosaur sculpture made of scavenged materials sourced from Texas, California and beyond.

The Low-down: Once again, Stuart Vevers sought refuge stateside for the SS19 men’s and women’s collections. But this time around, the classic Americana look gets a grittier recontextualisation, as Vevers wanted to shine the light on a “new romantic gang”—think a motley crew of dreamers, free-spirited travelers and likely new romantics. The clothes came in oversized silhouettes with an edgy, worn-in countenance, very much the kind of stuff you’d want to wear for that effortlessly cool swagger without trying too hard.

Buro Loves: The juxtaposition between leather jackets and XXL tees with prairie dresses/skirts, and the Disney cartoon artwork printed on separates that will definitely resonate with the urban youth.

Who: A star-studded front row brought glitz to the show, including model and activist Halima, actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Saoirse Ronan, and rapper ASAP Rocky.

Where: Raf Simons took his inspiration very literally this season. Referencing American cult film Jaws, the set was drenched in a blood red hue, from the lights that emanated a spectral feel to the space to the colour of the runway.

The Low-down: You can trust Raf Simons’ acumen in delivering parabolic wonders. He cited two favourite movies (Jaws and The Graduate) committed to his memory, with an intention to explore the beauty and tension between land and ocean. What transpired was a medley of futuristic rubber wetsuits, animal-printed retro frocks with 2D folds, and chic coats that bear a strong resemblance to graduation gowns. Not to miss are the Jaws poster emblazoned on tees with the brand’s iconic “cK” logo—those will likely fly off the shelves next season.

Buro Loves: Those touch-worthy fringed elements on sizable blazers and chunky knits worn over pleated skirts with shark-bitten hemlines. It’s all in the details.

Oscar de la Renta

Who: Front row faces include Amber Heard, Kate Beckinsale, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Dianna Agron, and new Oscar de la Renta fan Nicki Minaj.

Where: The presentation was held at the rooftop terrace of Spring Street Studios

The Low-down: Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia are finally flexing their muscles at the brand, two years after their official appointment. While we had to bid farewell to the formality-strapped looks we once were accustomed to when De la Renta was at the helm, the duo gave us good reason to fall in love all over again with the fresher aesthetic. This collection was made for “the woman who wanders in style”—and you can often find sarongs, ikat prints and kaftans in her summer wardrobe. Staying true to the house codes were handful of gowns that come with the usual frou-frou, some with full, feathery skirts and others in all its gilded and fringed glory.

Buro Loves: Pieces designed with travel destinations in mind: Floral kaftans in Moroccan-inspired silhouettes and billowy dresses in vivid hues with draping in the front.
