NYFW SS16: Tadashi Shoji

Paying tribute to Japan’s culture and landscape, designer Tadashi Shoji’s namesake label’s SS16 collection was a fresh and feminine take on Japan’s springtime blooms.

Staying true to the brand’s signature—classic, wearable and flattering—Shoji imbued delicately floral motifs of peonies and wisterias along with embroidered detailing onto filmy full-length tulle gowns, shift dresses and evening separates with Japanese influences (obi sashes and kimono tops).

The colour palette was dreamy and romantic to fit the theme of the night: blush pink, lavender, and pops of teal and blue. We saw plenty of sheer elements and more than usual plunging necklines that offered a sexier interpretation to his usual silhouettes.
