Debuting their first highly-anticipated collection under DKNY, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne explored menswear and exceptional tailoring for the label’s Spring/Summer 2016 line, all while retaining DKNY’s classic aesthetic of cool, New York chic.
As per last season’s gender-bending trend, menswear-like silhouettes were presented in a largely monochromatic palette of black, white and slate gray—from strong-shouldered pinstripe jackets to an oversized shirtdress and coat with a photo-print of DKNY’s ad campaign circa late 1950s.
The sophisticated part of it all was the impeccable tailoring: disjointed hemlines that made sense, the front panel of a double-breasted coat sewn onto a sheer dress, and hidden pleating details. Altogether a well-executed collection, we look forward to see what DKNY’s new era entails.
