Dior reveals eight new designs for its Haute Couture show in Tokyo

As artistic director of womenswear at Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s penchant for referencing the house’s archives is evident since her debut collection for the brand. Most recently, Chiuri alluded to the late Monsieur Dior’s love for allegorical images of flowers and plants for an exclusive capsule collection, in conjunction with the brand’s largest store opening in Japan. Cultural references (notably the cherry blossom) were rife on the eight new Haute Couture creations that were unveiled at the show last night, held at the rooftop of the Ginza Six mall in Tokyo. Amidst Dior’s iconic (reinterpreted) Bar jackets, highlights of the show include the cherry blossom printed Jardin japonais dress—a nod to the country’s festival of Hanami that celebrates the arrival of spring, ethereal tulle frocks, and long hooded capes with embroidered florals and bird motifs.

Alongside that, a collection of  ready-to-wear and accessories bearing the similar cherry blossom motifs and “Jardin japonais” text was introduced for the occasion too—take a look at the video below:
