Cai Mei Khoo, Editor-in-chief: Final look at Saint Laurent

Presented at a restored 17th-century mansion on the Left Bank of Paris, L’hotel de Senecterre, AKA Saint Laurent's new couture house, Hedi Slimane also adopted a more formal way of presenting Saint Laurent's AW16 collection—no up-and-coming indie band from California here. Each look was announced by Benedicte de Ginestous, who previously did the same at Yves Saint Laurent's couture shows. My favourite look? The red fur coat that came out at the end, which almost looked like the shape of a giant heart. Was it Hedi's love letter to mark his supposed final collection for Saint Laurent? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, those exaggerated shoulders make good shields for foiling unwanted air kisses.

Jonathan Anderson has a knack for making me love things I thought I hated. Case in point: black with brown, handkerchief hems (worse still, unfinished) and large hoop earrings. But in his clever, clever way, the resulting look is sophisticated with the right amount of interest and eccentricity to keep me wanting more. In my head I'm running through ideas on how to style and shoot this collection, always haunted by the niggling fear that I may not do it justice. Fashion is as much about response as it is expression and Anderson's Loewe challenges, transports and inspires me—a constant reminder of why I love this crazy industry in the first place.

No one can fault Karl Lagerfeld for reinventing and referencing the quintessential pieces from the archives of the legendary French atelier. But amidst the multitude of pearls, tweeds (naturally), and oversized bowler hats, this leather hoodie ensemble called out to me for a few good reasons. One, because streetwear has revolutionised the runways as of late and Lagerfeld is catching the drift, and two, how does he do it? By making it cropped, pastel pink and in leather. Needless to say, this might just radically one-up my hoodie game like never before.

Rachel Au, Lifestyle Writer: Givenchy, Look 14

This season, Givenchy has taken major inspiration from the Egyptian culture with frequent use of the Eye of Horus as a motif, metallic accents, sandy hues, and gold elements. While the metallic kaleidoscope pieces were a stunner and the perfectly tailored structure of the military jackets would make my classic staple, this graphic printed silk dress comes first on my wishlist this week. Channeling crazy prints on a delicate material just strikes the perfect balance for me.

I was originally drawn to a white dress with floral-esque embellishments and ruffled details from the Dior runway, but in the end my heart settled on its near opposite: this all-black bar suit that opened the show. A softer version of a power suit, here the atelier's iconic bar jacket is slightly less structured and styled with an asymmetrical hem for a difference—complete with the shades and cut-out oxfords, it works as an empowering look that will send anyone out into the concrete jungle in absolute confidence.
