Accessory of the day: Christopher Kane’s AW19 colourful liquid-filled pouches

You might remember the brand’s recent collections that were built around “The Joy of Sex”, but this season, Christopher Kane opted to go down a kinkier route by exploring fetishism, with details that had guests do a double take in a good way. Coupled with a tinge of humour, there was a balloon T-shirt accompanying the word ‘ Looner’; lace that was strategically mashed with a fuchsia satin skirt; and abstract motifs that were inspired by drops of oil. But one thing all the looks had in common, were the colourful liquid-filled plastic accessories—lined with crystals—that gave the mostly black-and-white palette that dose of interest, from a neck collar to a brooch or a belt. The bags, in particular, gave off a medicinal vibe, introduced in a pill-like oval shape that reminded us of an IV bag, toted by the crystal handle or carried like a pouch. Will this be the next bag du jour? Practicality aside, you can’t deny that it’s a fun piece to tote around. Just opt for clothing with pockets and you’re good to go.
