Watch: The new animated music video by Death Cab for Cutie
Be different, just like everyone else
The track is taken off their latest album Kintsugi, which was released last year, and was also the last record founding guitarist and producer Chris Walla worked on before announcing his departure from the band in 2014. Directed by Walter Robot, the animated video depicts a common man’s fast track to fame after he gets hit by a shooting star, leaving him with a star-shaped mark on his forehead. But being famous isn’t that simple, of course. It is a rather satirical comment on individualism—”Be different, just like everyone else” says a sign on a window in one of the scenes.
