Your First Look At The Fab Four of ‘The Beatles’ Biopics

Hollywood’s brightest have transformed themselves into the Fab Four. Introducing The Beatles—Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

Titled The Beatles—A Four-Film Cinematic Event, this herculean project will be helmed by director Sam Mendes, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind 1917 and American Beauty. 

As the title suggests, the upcoming biopics are described as a “cinematic event” due to the unusual and unprecedented rollout. Four separate movies about the legendary rock band will follow each member through their “distinct point of view”, according to Sony. All four biopics will be released simultaneously on 7 April 2028, marking the first time several interconnected films will be unveiled concurrently. 

This is also the first time the band and their estate have granted music and life rights to a theatrical feature film about them, adding another layer of significance to the project.

“I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes shared with Variety. 

Apart from the main four, the star-studded lineup continues with Saoirse Ronan as McCartney’s wife, Linda Eastman; Anna Sawai as Lennon’s wife, Yoko Ono; Aimee Lou Wood as Harrison’s wife, Pattie Boyd; and Mia McKenna-Bruce as Starr’s first wife, Maureen Starkey.

PAUL MESCAL

Irish BAFTA Award-winning actor Paul Mescal takes the role of Paul McCartney, who shared main vocal duties with John Lennon. Both were considered key songwriters in the band, making the pair one of the most successful songwriting partnerships in music history. Apart from singing, McCartney also played the piano, drums, and guitar. 

Mescal gained critical acclaim for his breakout role in 2020’s Normal People. Since then, he has gone on to lead 2022’s indie hit Aftersun, 2024’s Gladiator II and the Oscar-nominated Hamnet.

HARRIS DICKINSON

The 29-year-old English actor will portray John Lennon, the late guitarist and co-songwriter of The Beatles. While he led a decorated career as both a musician and activist, the legendary artist met a short end in 1980 when he was tragically shot outside of his New York City apartment. He was only 40. 

Dickinson is a rising star in Hollywood, recognised for his roles in 2022’s Triangle of Sadness and The Iron Claw in 2023. Most recently, the actor starred alongside Nicole Kidman in the sizzling erotic thriller, Babygirl.

BARRY KEOGHAN

The Beatles’ star drummer, Ringo Starr, will be played by Irish actor Barry Keoghan. Starr was the last to join the band as a member when he replaced drummer Pete Best in 1962. After the band split in 1970, the musician went on to have a solo career and is still performing to this day.

As the most seasoned actor in this cast of the Fab Four, Keoghan is an Oscar-nominated actor with memorable performances in films such as The Banshees of Inisherin, Saltburn, The Killing of the Sacred Deer, and Eternals.

JOSEPH QUINN

Last but not least, Joseph Quinn will take on the role of George Harrison, The Beatles’ lead guitarist. Harrison was the youngest of the Fab Four and was known as “the quiet Beatle”. After the band’s disbandment, the guitarist found singular success as a songwriter and performer. He passed away from lung cancer in 2001 at 58 years old and was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame three years later.

After breaking out for his role in Stranger Things Season 4, Quinn has continued to star in major franchises such as A Quiet Place: Day One and Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
