Blackpink’s Jennie and Lily-Rose Depp—our favourite Chanel girls star in the upcoming racy HBO show ‘The Idol’

You know that you’re in for a wild ride when Sam Levinson, the director of Emmy-winning series Euphoria is helming the show. Co-created with R&B singer, The Weeknd—whose real name is Abel Tesfaye—the trailer, which dropped a couple of days ago, teases “The sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood.” From the short 1-minute, 34-second clip itself, you can gather that the drama centres around the excessive life of a rising singer, played by Chanel brand muse Lily-Rose Depp, and her relationship with The Weeknd’s character, who is an enigmatic nightclub owner. Check out the titillating trailer for yourself below!

Surrounded by drugs, sex and alcohol, The Idol offers an authentic and intense experience into the lives of Hollywood celebrities and the Los Angeles music industry. Are you excited as we are? While there are a lot of details still yet to be released about the show, here are five things you can expect.

Season 1 has six episodes

First announced in June 2021, The Idol has been in production for the past year with multiple changes in the production crew along the way. According to an HBO representative, “The Idol’s creative team continues to build, refine and evolve their vision for the show and have aligned on a new creative direction. The production will be adjusting its cast and crew accordingly to best serve this new approach to the series.” A series order of six episodes was confirmed just last November.

An all-star cast

Aside from the above-mentioned lead characters, you’ll be able to spot several familiar faces in blink-and-you-miss-it moments in the trailer such as Debby Ryan, Troye Sivan, Hari Nef, Rachel Sennott, Suzanna Son and one particular Blackpink member that’s caused quite the buzz with her involvement in the show.

Yes, that’s Jennie from Blackpink

News of the Korean pop star and Chanel muse making her Hollywood debut surfaced last June but now has been completely confirmed with the release of this trailer. While it’s still unclear whether she’s merely making a cameo or has a full supporting role, the real-life ‘Idol’, however, appears in three separate scenes in the clip. On her Weverse account, she shares, “The Idol teaser is finally coming out so we can talk about it. I can’t give you many spoilers yet but it was a fun experience and a new challenge for me. We’ve been busy preparing the comeback, but I’m excited to see Blink soon.” Are you ready, Blinks?

It is undeniably 18sx

“Lick it, spank it, drop it, camera, money, uh, uh, uh,” were just some of the dialogue revealed in the trailer, along with sexy moves, cocaine trays, skimpy clothing, lust-infused intoxicating romance and unrestrained partying. How exhilarating!

It does not have an official release date

While the trailer itself looked pretty extensive with many scandalous scenarios, no official release date has been announced just yet. However, a small and simple ‘Coming soon’ statement appeared at the very end of the trailer. We can’t wait!
