1. Singapore Art Week 2021
The ninth edition of Singapore Art Week (SAW), the pinnacle of Singapore’s visual arts scene, is making a return this month. This time around, the exhibition will be going digital amid the coronavirus pandemic. Known to deliver exceptional art pieces and discussions, SAW 2021 will stay true to its theme of ‘Art Takes Over’ with over 100 programmes threading across both physical and digital platforms—allowing people who share the same passion and love for art from around the world to discover and experience the Southeast Asian art scene.

2. Unreal City

In response to United Kingdom’s latest lockdown restrictions, Acute Art has taken art exhibitions to the next level by unveiling a new way to discover, experience and collect interactive artworks through their app ‘Unreal City’. The exhibition allows users to transform their homes into a big augmented reality (AR) exhibition where they can engage with the works by various artists such as KAWS, Olafur Eliasson, Cao Fei, Koo Jeong-A, Alicja Kwade, Marco Brambilla, Tomás Saraceno, Bjarne Melgaard and Darren Bader.

3. We=Link: Sideways

Organised by Chronus Art Center in collaboration with Copenhagen Contemporary, We=Link: Sideways is a group exhibition that features artworks created by 27 artists and artist collectives—from the pioneers of net art to millennials. The Covid-19 outbreak marks an unprecedented historical moment as social and economic routines have been interrupted; art remains an essential force to galvanise and rejuvenate people all around the world. With that being said, the art centre has once again come up with an online exhibition, presenting the works of Mike Bennett, Wafaa Bilal, Chen Pengpeng, Jonah Brucker-Cohen, Matthieu Cherubini and many more.

4. Lusus Naturae

‘Lusus Naturae’ in Latin translates to “freak of nature” and just like the name of the exhibition, the artworks in it reflect on the questions of a hybrid future, with the aim to highlight the forgotten appreciation for the deformed and the ugly. Society today has been led astray from the appreciation towards unconventional beauty due to the visually pleasing standards shaped by social media. Curated by Berlin-based curator, Vanessa Souli, the exhibition explores the oddities through the eyes of the established contemporary artists as the artworks aims to push the boundaries of norms.
