Looking for some Merdeka makeup inspo to get into the celebratory mood? You’ve come to the right place.

FYI: Merdeka is fast approaching. We’ve already given you some nail inspo befitting of the occasion, so we’ve figured, why not take it up a notch and give you a full Merdeka-themed beauty makeover?

This time, we present some unique National Day makeup inspo that’ll bring out the patriotism in you. From statement eyeliner looks, creative eyeshadow looks to ornate face art, these looks will have heads turning as you belt out Jalur Gemilang on the last day of the month.

Coloured eyeliner with a twist

There’s nothing better than a trusty coloured eyeliner to add some edginess to your makeup. Whether it’s blue, red, white or yellow, just a few creative strokes on your eyes and you’re almost done! Pair your eyeliner with a similar coloured-eyeshadow for a cohesive, statement look.

Two-toned eye

A colour on your eyelid, and another under your eyes, this is a simple look with striking impact. We love this combination of blue and red with a subtle purple accent—it’s festive without looking cheesy. Just don’t forget to bring the look together by adding a final touch of eyeliner.

Want to incorporate more colours into your look? Try this ethereal, blended eyeshadow look. Our best advice is to keep it under three colours so that the results do not look too muddied. You can also add a little glitter to bring all the colours together.

PS: If you want to incorporate all the flag colours into one look, stick to blue and red for the lips and highlight the rest of your face with yellow or white shimmer highlight!

Adding some sparkle

Bling up your eyes with the help of dainty little jewels—it’s a great way to spice up your look for the festivities. If your makeup isn’t looking striking enough, try topping it off with gemstones. TIP: You can even skip your eyeliner and use gems to create your wing instead!

Statement blush

Can’t fit all the flag colours on your lids? Bring it down to your cheeks! Keep it simple with a bright red blusher or push your beauty game with an iridescent blue highlight-blush combo.

Sketching on the eyes

A look that requires a little more skill, but is definitely worth the effort if you can execute it well. Inspired by our national flag’s colours, this tri-tone graphic look is a cute way to incorporate Malaysia’s key elements without having to commit to the full flag.  Eyeshadow is optional here, but we think a wash of sparkle over the lids would be a cute addition!

Making use of festive stencils

If you’re not keen on straying too far from your usual everyday beat but you’d like to add a little festive element into your look, try using a Merdeka-themed stencil. Whether it’s a crescent moon or a spattering of stars, these stencils can upgrade a look with minimal effort.

Try on makeup stickers

Want to stun with your makeup but not skilled enough to pull off your vision? Try on some makeup stickers or temporary tattoos for size! Not only will they last all day, but they’ll have you standing out from the crowd with little to no effort on your part.
