How to keep your bangs looking perfect all day long

PSA: Once again, TikTok has come through with yet another beauty hack we’ll be adopting into our routines immediately. Now, not all TikTok beauty hacks are created equal, but we’ve gotta admit—this latest one is so good, we’re kind of mad we didn’t think of it ourselves.

Meet your fringe’s new best friend: Lash glue. Indeed, the girlies on TikTok have been using lash glue to keep their bangs in place—bid adieu to the dread of windy days, hats, or quick mid-day siestas ruining your hair. With this hack, you’ll be looking picture-perfect no matter what curveballs life throws at you.

While the trick is new to TikTok, it’s actually a pretty firm staple on the red carpet. If you’ve ever wondered how your favourite celebs keep their hair in place at windy outdoor events, chances are that their hairstylists have used this quick hack to keep their work intact throughout any weather.

Ahead, we’re delving into the trend, from the technique behind it to its safety for your skin:

Is it safe?

Essentially, if it’s good enough for your eyes, it’s probably good enough for your forehead. That said, if your skin is particularly acne-prone, you might want to reserve this technique for special occasions as the glue may clog pores and hair follicles.

How to recreate the trend

If your hairspray and mousse combo is just not hacking it anymore and you want a more heavy-duty solution to your fringe problems, you’re in luck! The technique behind this lash glue hack is simple. Once you’ve styled your bangs and you’re happy with how they fall, simply swipe some lash glue onto the area of skin of your choice, wait for it to dry a little and get tacky, and then gently press the ends of your bangs down into place.

Be careful not to go overboard with the glue—not only do you want to avoid excess glue residue on your skin, but being too heavy-handed will make it harder to remove at the end of the day.

How well does it work?

Still sceptical? Understood. Fortunately, TikTok has put the trend to the ultimate stress test so that you don’t have to. The verdict? It’s not bad at all!

The removal process

Okay, so you’ve given the hack a go, but now it’s time for a shower—how do you remove it? In short, it’s best to approach it the same way you would with a pair of eyelashes. Rather than ripping your bangs off your face in one fell swoop—a surefire way to cause damage to your hair strands—get some micellar water to weaken the bonds before gently peeling your fringe off of your face. That’s about it!
