Previously, we gave you at least seven good reasons to check out Mr Chew’s Chino Latino Bar & Restaurant. Every corner of the place gleams of #interiorgoals while the menu is playful, fun and delicious. Sadly, it was hard to get a table without making a prior reservation and it was only open for dinner. Well, not anymore. Spread the word: Mr Chew’s now caters to lunch patrons as well.
To spice things up, there are a few new additions exclusive to the lunch set menu (starter and main for RM45++ per person). First off, the bento box-inspired starter set which comprises of a Roll of the Day and signature Bun of the Day. Both of these rotate its options frequently, enabling (and enticing) guests to try something new every time they visit.
The Roll of the Day can range from a Gado Gado Roll to a Tempura Prawn Popiah while Bun of the Day lists a grilled, steamed or fried mantao for guests to choose. Even then, the flavours of the buns are also under rotation with over ten variations.
For example, in the opening week, the bun menu had: Miso Salmon Bun (fried mantao bun, grilled miss salmon, wasabi mayo, pineapple-avocado salsa and cilantro salad), Barra Turmeric Bun (steamed bun, grilled barramundi, turmeric chilli butter, water chestnut salad, orange tobiko mayo), and Mushroom & Corn Bun (a vegetarian option; grilled bun, eringgi mushrooms, sweet soy glaze, burnt corn salsa).
There’s an extra reason why you should check out Mr Chew’s for lunch as you won’t find the options for the mains on the a la carte menu. Expect familiar hearty Asian dishes with an inventive twist such as the Laksa Noodles with a spicy coconut broth and tangy pineapple and prawn salad and Mr Chew’s Chicken Rice with panfried spring chicken, lemongrass, tamarind and honey sauce and crispy rice cakes.
If you still have room for dessert (of course you would!), top up RM15++ per person for a sweet treat that is also not on the dinner a la carte menu. There are three options: Coconut & Passion Fruit Sago Pudding, Lychee & Mango Panna Cotta; and Chocolate Banana Roll. For such a gratifying lunch, be sure to grab coffee as well to avoid the risk of getting food coma.
