In a show-stopping night that celebrated music’s biggest and brightest, the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards delivered jaw-dropping performances, stunning victories, and celebrity interactions that would go down in the pop culture history books.
Pop queens reigned supreme as female artists dominated in their categories. Ariana Grande took home the biggest honour of the night, which was Video of the Year for ‘Brighter Days Ahead’. The singer and Wicked star won a total of three awards.

Rosé made history as the first K-pop artist to win Song of the Year for her gargantuan hit ‘APT’ featuring Bruno Mars, whilst her Blackpink bandmate Lisa took home her third VMA for Best K-pop with ‘Born Again’ together with Doja Cat and Raye. Sabrina Carpenter continues her tremendous run in the pop scene with three trophies, including Album of the Year for Short n’ Sweet and Best Pop Artist (a new category introduced this year).

But it was Lady Gaga who was ultimately the biggest winner of the night, taking home four ‘Moon Person’ trophies, including Artist of the Year and Best Collaboration for ‘Die With a Smile’ with Bruno Mars. The singer accepted her award and quickly left the venue to get to her sold-out Madison Square Garden concert, where the VMAs broadcast her performance of ‘Abracadabra’ and ‘The Dead Dance’ from her show.

Other notable winners include Katseye’s MTV Push Performance of the Year for ‘Touch’, Doechii’s ‘Anxiety’ for Best Hip-Hop, Tyla’s ‘Push 2 Start’ for Best Afrobeats, Tate McRae’s ‘Just Keep Watching’ for Best Song of the Summer, and Blackpink for Best Group.
The 2025 MTV VMAs were also all about honouring music’s biggest icons just as much as they celebrated the new voices in the scene. Mariah Carey received the Video Vanguard Award; Busta Rhymes was presented the first-ever Rock the Bells Visionary Award; and Ricky Martin accepted the inaugural Latin Icon Award. All three artists performed a medley of their greatest hits.

Further, the late Ozzy Osbourne was given a rousing and sentimental tribute by Yungblud and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.
