Three shades of gold that deserve a place on your wrist

GO FOR GOLD

For him: Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 36000 Special SBGH266

Three limited edition pieces were created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Grand Seiko’s 9S caliber this year, one of them being the Hi-Beat 36000 Special. An exquisite engraving radiates outward from the dial centre, featuring the brand’s initial in a delicate mosaic pattern. At the heart of this timepiece is the 10-beat movement Caliber 9S85 that operates at the “Special” standard of accuracy, enabling it to deliver a precision rate of +4/-2 seconds per day.

For her: Chopard Happy Palm

Inspired by the prestigious Palme d’or trophy, the Chopard Happy Palm is an all-gold beauty made of fairmine-certified ethical gold, keeping true to the brand’s promise of sustainable luxury. Limited to just 25 pieces, the dial is a stunning work of art, adorned with Urushi lacquer and the Happy Sport’s signature dancing diamonds along with a miniature Palme d’or. Even the leather strap is coated with 24-carat gold—go gold or go home indeed.

WHITE GOLD WONDERS

For him: A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split

A technical feat in watchmaking, the A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split is the world’s first mechanical split-seconds chronograph that is capable of multi-hour comparative measurements, allowing you to measure and compare the time of two concurrent events for up to 12 hours. The grand complication is housed in an 18-carat white gold case with a 43.2mm diameter, making it an elegant yet statement timepiece.

For her: Audemars Piguet Frosted Gold Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked

Just when we thought the Audemars Piguet Frosted Gold Royal Oak is as stunning as it gets, this year it gets equipped with a movement that is just as extraordinary:  a hand-finished, openworked double balance wheel mechanism that is as eye-catching as it is remarkable. A ladies timepiece that is both beautiful and technically impressive, it’s easy to see why it snagged a place on our podium.

ROSE GOLD GRANDEUR

For him: Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Automatic 910P

One of the thinnest automatic watch in the world, the Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Automatic 910P measures a mere 4.3mm thin. This was made possible by combining the movement with the caseback. A masterpiece of refined elegance and bold character, the ultra-thin movement is backed by a power reserve of 50 hours.

For her: Rolex Rainbow Daytona

For the maximalist who loves her sparkles, behold the Rolex Rainbow Daytona in 18-carat Everose gold, one of the most dazzling pieces that made its debut at Baselworld 2018. The robust Oyster case is juxtaposed with a bezel set with 36 baguette-cut sapphires in a rainbow gradation. A further 56 brilliant-cut diamonds adorn the middle case.

TRI-GOLD BECAUSE... WHY NOT?

Bulgari Serpenti Tubogas

Finding it difficult to settle on a gold hue? Get the best of all three worlds with the unique Serpenti Tubogas, where the 18-carat gold in yellow, rose and white come together in one brilliant timepiece. The double tour Tubogas bracelet is lead by a rose gold case topped by a bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds and a cabochon-cut rubellite on the crown.
