Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) 2023: Highlights and complete winners list
Best of the best
Following the touring exhibitions of the shortlisted pieces and deliberative voting by Academy members, the final results of the 23rd Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) were revealed earlier this month. The much-anticipated ceremony was hosted at Geneva’s Théâtre du Léman and announced the 19 winners in the presence of industry players and watchmaking fans.
One of the main highlights was the coveted Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix, awarded to Audemars Piguet for the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Ultra-Complication Universelle RD#4 watch. This exquisite piece is remarkable as it blends the House’s expertise in horology to create a single self-winding movement that powers 40 functions, including 23 complications. Meanwhile, Vincent Calabrese and Svend Andersen received the Special Jury Prize. The two bagged the prize for establishing the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI), a community of independent watchmakers based in Switzerland.
In other news, Maison Alcée with the Persée Azur receives the Audacity Prize, which recognises the best watch with an unconventional approach to watchmaking. The Chronometry Prize, on the other hand, was awarded to Ferdinand Berthoud’s Chronométre FB 3SPC while Hautlence took home the Innovation Prize with Sphere Series 1. Last but not least, the Chronomètre Artisans by Simon Brette is the recipient of the Horological Revelation Prize, which honours emerging brands.
