‘If we can imagine it, we can make it. And if we can make it, we will’––back in 1957, this inspiring motto came hand-in-hand with the launch of Rado’s first watch, the groundbreaking Green Horse timepiece that marked the beginning of the Swiss brand. Fast forward to today, and the pioneering watchmaker has continued to pave the way by being at the forefront of material development and use, introducing high-tech ceramic and Ceramos (a unique high-tech mix of ceramic and metal alloy) to its scratch-resistant, design-led collections. And this very pioneering spirit is the basis of Rado’s new boutique in Penang, which just opened its doors last week at George Town’s Gurney Plaza.
Developed to provide the ultimate “Masters of Materials” experience, the new design concept is an evolution of Rado’s vanguard style. Upon arrival, the open atrium of the storefront presents a welcome invitation for anyone to discover the brand’s latest collections with ease, and simultaneously feel Rado’s innovative character all at once. Once inside, warm lighting and luxurious materials are accompanied by displays of star pieces alongside the Swiss landscape, making a visit to the boutique an immersive, one-of-a-kind experience.
In attendance for the momentous ribbon-cutting event were a slew of local celebrities and KOLs who had travelled in for the occasion, including model and artist Sheena Liam, actress Tong Bing Yu multi-hyphenate content creators Melissa Th’ng and Lucas Lau, style personality Andre Amir, and actors Fazziq and Daley Yusuf. Paired with Rado’s innovative designs on display to peruse and try on, suffice to say that the grand event was one to remember.
