Pre-SIHH 2019: What’s coming up for Cartier, Montblanc, Audemars Piguet

CARTIER

Cartier Prive Tonneau XL Skeleton Dual Time

From the luxe French brand comes the latest addition to the Privé collection including the Tonneau Large and Tonneau XL Skeleton Dual Time. The tonneau shape is synonymous with Cartier’s push against conventional round watches when it debuted in 1906. For SIHH 2019, the new tonneau timepieces measure 52.4mm long and 29.8mm wide at the centre, with a curved profile and sub-12mm thickness. Our eyes are on the pink gold and platinum skeleton pieces that feature two time zones with separate dials and crowns for each.

MONTBLANC

Montblanc Star Legacy

In a follow-up to this year’s SIHH, Montblanc will be releasing two new versions of the Star Legacy and TimeWalker in steel and rose gold for 2019. In the Star Legacy Date Automatic and the Star Legacy Full Calendar, you will now find 12 black Roman numerals in place of the Arabic numerals. The former now comes only in steel with a white dial, featuring exploding star guilloche and similar motifs. In the latter, it stays true to the aesthetic codes of the Automatic with a white-silvered dial and a red crescent tip hand.

Montblanc Time Walker

The two new TimeWalker chronographs feature a black “reverse panda” dial with white-silvered chapter ring and subdials. The 41mm has a small seconds dial at ‘9’ and chronograph counters at ‘6’ and ’12’, while the 43mm has more traditional counters positioned at ‘3’, ‘6’ and ’12’. The TimeWalker collection pays tribute to golden era of motor racing – so in the 43mm you will see cutout lugs that are like the vents of classic cars with column wheel, horizontal clutch and stop-seconds mechanism. Other notable features in the chronographs include a tachymetric scale, precision minutes track, numerals and markers coated with Super-LumiNova and a red chrono seconds hand tipped with the Minerva arrow.

AUDEMARS PIGUET

Audemars Pigeut Royal Oak Offshore

The 2019 Royal Oak Offshore collection sports a rugged colourway in three shades of camouflage. The new 44mm Audemars Piguet chronographs feature ceramic bezel, pushpieces and screw-locked crown, Méga-Tapisserie dial and robust rubber straps. The blue and green ceramic models come with a stainless steel case, while the brown ceramic model – an AP first – is encased with a pink gold case to set a nice contrast to the bezel.
