Own now: The Military trend

As autumn settles in, we look to these military-inspired timepieces for accessorising options. But of course, watches by the likes of IWC Schaffhausen and Bell & Ross are as functional as they are tasteful in style. Go on, take the military trend in stride with our selection of wardrobe essential worthy watches.

Bell & Ross BR 01 Airborne II

A limited edition version of the BR 01 Airborne watch, it bears its predecessor’s signature military symbol. The skull and crossbones are a symbol of the military paratroopers’ courage, especially the US Airborne divisions that played such a distinguished role in the Second World War, and acted as a talisman during their dangerous missions. The BR 01 Airborne II sports an aged steel case, coupled with a brown leather strap tanned like old leather, giving it a desirable brazen, aged look.

Bell & Ross BR S Grey Camouflage

The watch for both him and her, the BR S is a 39mm urban interpretation of the iconic Bell & Ross BR 01. Smaller, Sleeker and Smarter, as the ‘S’ in its name connotes, the BR S models are designed for everyday use, featuring sleek lines and an ergonomic case. In addition to the existing BR S Ceramic line, Bell & Ross is proud to introduce the BR S Grey Camouflage—drawing inspiration from military codes, the two new models showcase a stunning mother of pearl dial with hints of grey in a camouflage pattern. One of the models comes embedded with precious stones, giving the military-inspired appearance a feminine, timeless look of glamour.

IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch Top Gun Miramar

First making its way into the world’s radar in 2012, the Top Gun Miramar is an extension of IWC’s Big Pilot’s Watch Top Gun collection; a tribute to the birthplace of the Top Gun legend—the US Navy’s pilot school in Miramar, California. Sporting classic military colours, it features a metallic grey ceramic case and suave green textile strap. Powered by IWC’s largest automatic movement, the in-house 51111 calibre, it has an impressive and convenient 7-day power reserve. The epitome of rugged elegance, the Top Gun Miramar is also available in a chronograph version.

Breitling Chronomat 44 Airborne

Breitling’s ultimate chronograph collection, the Chronomat, introduced a model in tribute to the worldwide aviation elite in 1984—the Chronomat Airborne. Unapolegetically bold in style, it combines an ultra-technical look with the performances one expects from an authentic instrument for professionals. Armed with Manufacture Breitling Calibre 01, expect the best in terms of reliability and precision from this highly functional timepiece. The Chronomate Airborne features a sturdy steel case teamed with a military-type fabric strap.
