When Swiss luxury meets technology: TAG Heuer Connected

Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer has teamed up with Intel Corporation and Google to develop TAG Heuer Connected Watch—a luxury watch with 150 years of Swiss expertise and cultivated in La Chaux-de-Fonds, engineered with Intel technology and Android Wear. With 4GB of memory, an Intel Atom processor Z34XX and running on the Android Wear platform, the TAG Heuer Connected offers audio streaming, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, alongside many other features. It is also equipped with a small microphone for Google Voice Control and a sapphire crystal touchscreen and is IP67 water resistance rated.

The TAG Heuer Connected embodies the appearance of a true watch, with its watch faces, minute tracks, and “interactive counters” displayed uniquely. The tech benefits come hand in hand as well: if something in the counter interests you, touch the counter to open and interact with the app in full screen mode. The apps customized for TAG Heuer are available exclusively and will be offered with free subscriptions, such as Insiders (lifestyle), GolfShot Pro (golf), RaceChrono Pro (motor racing), and Viewrangers (trailing). If your phone isn’t with you, the watch will continue to sync data and remain connected to the cloud as long as you have a Wi-Fi connection. Easily synced with a phone running on either Android 4.3+ or iOS 8.2+, the watch is charged using a contact charger and comes with a two-year warranty.

Design wise, the TAG Heuer connected is a true chronograph, with case back and lugs made from grade 2 titanium, which is a lighter and more impact-resistant material. It comes with a textured black rubber strap (six other colour options are sold separately) with a deploying buckle made of the same titanium as well. TAG Heuer’s signature three digital watch dials (or watch faces) will be available in black, deep blue or pearl white for the Connected: the chronograph dial, the 3-hand dial and the GMT dial.

Alongside that, those who purchase the TAG Heuer Connected will be able to exchange it for a mechanical watch with real Swiss movement inside, only at the end of the watch’s two-year warranty period.
