Just launched on Mr Porter: A limited-edition timepiece by Zenith x Bamford Watch Department

In a first for Mr Porter, the one-stop online destination for men’s style has linked arms with Swiss fine-watch manufacturer Zenith and British watch customiser Bamford Watch Department to create the Chronomaster El Primero Solar Blue.

“This is a first for Mr Porter, working together with both Zenith and Bamford Watch Department, and we are thrilled with the result,” says Toby Bateman, managing director of Mr Porter. “Zenith’s approach to modern day watch-making, alongside George Bamford’s eye for contemporary customisation, has created a unique timepiece our customers and readers are sure to enjoy and appreciate. By diving into Zenith’s archive for technical references, this collaboration showcases genuine originality and storytelling – which will certainly make this watch special for years to come.”

Loyal fans of Zenith may think that the design feels familiar, that is because the timepiece is based on the Zenith Heritage 146 model, sporting vintage touches that draw upon the brand’s historical design elements. The tachymeter, for example, is inspired by a 1971 El Primero, while the red seconds hand references a vintage chronograph case. But the stunning ‘Solar Blue’ dial anchors the watch in the present with its bold, modern nature, creating a watch that is both familiar yet altogether brand new.

The Chronomaster El Primero Solar Blue is fitted with a steel case paired with an alcantra strap, rendering it ideal for everyday wear. Driven by the El Primero 4069 Automatic movement, it features a beautiful open case-back, each engraved with its unique number. The special collaboration timepiece is only limited to 25 pieces. Launched just today, at the time of writing there is only one piece left — get on it before it’s too late.
