Longines celebrates its 50 millionth timepiece

Longines’ beginnings date back to 1832, the year what would become a legacy of elegance and performance in timepieces started in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Fast forward to today, over 185 years of know-how shaped by tradition has cemented the brand behind the unmistakable winged hourglass amongst some of the well-known names from the watchmaking world.

2018 saw Longines exceed the milestone of producing over 50 million watches since its establishment, a testament to the brand’s heritage and longevity. To commemorate the occasion, a unique piece with the serial number 50,000,000 was created. Issued from the Longines Master collection, the special timepiece isn’t just a representation of the brand’s rich history, it is also an indication of an upcoming model that will soon be released.

A silvered dial stamped with a barleycorn motif and blue steel hands are housed in the 40mm rose gold case, flaunting a classic, elegant aesthetic. The model is driven by the new exclusive L897 automatic calibre with a 64-hour power reserve. On the flip side, a commemorative inscription adorns the transparent case back, marking a truly special timepiece.
