Diving into time with Bulgari Diagono Scuba

Bulgari’s latest timepiece, Diagono Scuba goes to show that sportswatches do not necessarily have to look overtly sporty while negating refinement and elegance. Wear this from the sailboat to a cocktail party as its aesthetic and contemporary edge makes for a versatile accessory. This summer sees an upgrade from its classic 1994 version with cases of 18K pink gold and/or steel fitted with a metal bracelet or rubber strap; while technical specifications boast a water resistance up to 300 metres, Manufacture BVL 191 Solotempo calibre, and instantaneous date change equipped with a stop-seconds device serving to block the balance when the crown is pulled out—an energy-saving disconnecting system that avoids wear of the pinions.

“The approach that guided the reinterpretation of the new Diagono Scuba absolutely had to preserve the spirit of the Scuba first-generation: an extremely chic watch symbolising Italian elegance,” says Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, director of Bulgari’s Watch Design Center. “The essential elements of the original design have been maintained: a dial and bezel picking up the architectural codes of the Roman column and arches, as well as similar hands and hour-markers.”
