A new generation of Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris is unveiled at SIHH 2018

In 1968, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the now-iconic Memovox Polaris. A diving watch equipped with an alarm and a triple case back system, it has since went on to become one of the most beloved vintage diver watches amongst timepiece aficionados.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Memovox Polaris. Paying homage to an icon, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled the new Polaris collection at SIHH 2018 last week. It comprises of five new models: a three-hand automatic, a chronograph, a chronograph world time, an automatic with date, and a Memovox diver’s alarm watch.

Take a closer look at them here:

Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox

The star of the collection, this new take on a classic most resembles the iconic Memovox from 1968 with its special alarm function and vintage design codes. It has three crowns (alarm, inner rotating bezel, and time), and vanilla Super-LumiNova hour-markers just like the original.

At the heart of this 50th anniversary timepiece is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 956, with a mechanical alarm and instant-jump date-change system. Issued in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces, the new Polaris Memovox comes with a sporty rubber strap and is water resistant to 200 meters.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date

Like the Polaris Memovox, this vintage-steeped piece sports the same design codes as the original Polaris. An elegant sports watch, it features a polished and brushed case fitted with either a rubber strap or three-link bracelet.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Automatic

This three-hand automatic is an embodiment of beauty in simplicity, with a two-crown design and slightly smaller case of 41mm that really allows the three-finish dial to take centre stage. Interchangeable straps allow you to match it with either a leather one or a matching stainless steel bracelet.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph

Available in steel and rose gold, the Polaris Chronograph diverts from its diver’s origins and into motorsports. Unapologetically sporty, it is equipped with a tachymeter bezel and contrasting markers that make for easy reading.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph WT

The most complicated movement in the new collection goes to the Polaris Chronograph WT. A chronograph and world time complication packed into one, the 44mm case and neatly-designed dial ensure enhanced readability in the density of information.
