Malaysia Makes Debut on Michelin Keys 2025 List with Four Hotels Named
Malaysian hospitality
A quick introduction to the four hotels in Malaysia that made it onto the Michelin Keys list for 2025.
The Michelin Guide has announced its Michelin Keys list for 2025, detailing the world’s top class of hotels. Hitting the marks in personality, design, service, and comfort, these properties have been awarded the hospitality equivalent of the Michelin Star for restaurants, with a maximum of three Keys. One Key denotes what the guide calls a “very special stay”, while Two Keys signify “an exceptional stay” and Three “an extraordinary stay”.
While the initial Michelin Keys selection was launched in 2024 with only French hotels named, this year marks the first time the list has extended across the globe. This meant that all Michelin Guide hotels were eligible for recognition. Four hotels from around Malaysia received the sought-after Michelin Keys in this 2025 list, with three from the capital and one from Langkawi island. Find out more about them below!
TWO KEYS
Four Seasons Resort Langkawi

This idyllic island property is the sole Two-Key hotel in the country, sealing its position as the best beach resort in Malaysia. If you were to be barefoot on any beach here, the Michelin guide thinks you’d be right at home at the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi. The 48-acre property is home to ninety pavilions and rooms, each designed with Arabian and Malaysian influences that don’t spill into the opulent. Its pristine private beach on the main island dips guests right into the lap of luxury with an expansive swimming pool, five food and drink destinations, a full-service spa, a tennis court and more.
ONE KEY
Else Kuala Lumpur

This city centre retreat is the ultimate blend of comfort, design, and modernity. Housed in the 1930s Art Deco-style Lee Rubber Building, Else Kuala Lumpur is a favourite—even among locals—for its thoughtful furnishings and boutique-style living. Its location just outside the city’s Chinatown also means dining options and sights are aplenty just steps away from its front door. However, its interiors are a calm escape from the hustle and heat of it all. There are two dining options—Yellow Fin Horse and Raw—for guests to lean on when the hunger pangs hit, as well as a pool, designer gym, library, and even sensory deprivation pods.
Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur

The Four Seasons brand has definitely won big this year with the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur also bagging a Key in the guide. Its 236 rooms are plush and luxuriously appointed—made for those who want nothing more than to sink into a sea of pillows after a hot shower. The views are nothing short of stunning with a front row seat to the Petronas Towers and KLCC Park. For dining, it offers a range of options, including Cantonese specialist Yun House and all-day bistro Curate. Those who fancy a nightcap shouldn’t miss Bar Trigona, named #39 on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025 list, for its locally-inclined cocktails.
The RuMa Hotel and Residences

Championing the tapestries of Malaysian culture, The RuMa Hotel and Residences is where luxury takes a warm, inviting shade. Clearly influenced by Malay design and traditional crafts, its design is tastefully contemporary, seen throughout the entire property. The 153 rooms are fitted in muted fabrics, dark wood accents, and plenty of comforts that contribute to guests’ memorable experiences. Its flagship restaurant ATAS serves modern Malaysian cuisine, while the lobby bar SEVEN and poolside SANTAI are great options for tipples and casual bites respectively. The property is also home to a spa and barber, perfect for guests who need a little pampering and grooming before check out.
