Every year, the world welcomes new hotels, be it luxury, affordable, or affordable luxury (such as citizenM). Asia has also seen an influx of additions to its hospitality industry with an increasing amount of hotels. This roundup looks at luxury hotels that have opened in 2019—and make them your accommodation when you travel, of course.

1. St. Regis, Hong Kong

Designed by award-winning architect, André Fu, the glamour of New York and the heritage of Hong Kong intertwines in St. Regis Hong Kong. The 27-storey tower is located right on the waterfront in Wan Chai, one of the oldest districts in Hong Kong. There are 129 bedrooms, including a Presidential Suite and two premium suites. East meets West elements can be seen throughout the hotel whereas food-wise, L’Envol French restaurant and Rùn Chinese restaurant feature culinary highlights by Michelin-starred chefs.

2. Capella Bangkok, Thailand

 

On the east bank of the Chao Phraya is Capella Bangkok, a new luxurious boutique retreat. The hotel’s objective—to introduce guests to the rich cultural and culinary heritage of Charoenkrung, one of Bangkok’s main thoroughfares up until the 20th century. 4. Muji Hotel Tokyo, Japan

Located right at the centre of Tokyo’s Ginza district is Muji Hotel Ginza. There are 79 rooms with mattresses in beds featuring design informed by sleep and posture research. The interior of the hotel focuses on wood, stone, and earth. You will be able to notice in its design, paving stones from trolley ways that ran through Tokyo 100 years ago that are repurposed as well as materials recycled from actual ship debris. In addition to that, there is a library, an atelier, a bakery, a salon, and the Muji Diner at your disposal. This is the Japanese design brand’s third hotel after Shenzhen and Beijing. Dubai’s northern neighbour, Sharjah, is not as well known to the world but the lesser-known emirate now has its first luxury resort. Located along a waterfront canal in the heart of old Sharjah, the establishment consists of a hammam, a spa, two restaurants, a cafe, a library, museum, and an ice cream shop. Design-wise, expect hand-carved wood furniture, decorative brass flourishes, Arabic-style floor sofas, and woven palm-frond ceilings. There are 53 rooms and suites in the hotel.
