Now in cinemas: Two Sisters
The latest local production to hit cinemas, Two Sisters opened on 18 April with a bold money-back guarantee promise—patrons who caught the film on the opening day could request for a refund if they didn’t like it. Falling into the psychological horror genre, it tells the story of a pair of estranged sisters (played by Lim Mei Fen and Emily Lim) whose dark family secret start to unfold following their reunion and return to their previously abandoned home. It may have just premiered, but it already has an award for Best Musical Score under its belt, received by Nick Davis at the recent 30th Malaysian Film Festival Awards.
Homecoming lands on Netflix
Remember when Beyoncé headlined Coachella last year with a performance so epic it was coined Beychella? ICYMI, the irreplaceable (pun totally intended) Queen Bey lit up the stage with a 2-hour set of her greatest hits backed by 100 dancers and a 200-strong marching band. Oh, not forgetting the Destiny’s Child on-stage reunion too. Homecoming lets us relive that legendary performance and more, interspersed with candid footage and interviews that capture the emotional journey from creative concept to cultural movement.
Madonna drops a new track
From one queen to another. Madonna teases her new album (her 14th one) which will be out in June with ‘Medellín’, her latest single featuring Maluma that made its debut on Apple Music’s Beats 1 earlier this week. For the upcoming record, titled Madame X, expect the mother of reinvention to take on multiple personalities: “Madame X is a secret agent. Travelling around the world. Changing identities. Fighting for freedom. Bringing light to dark places. She is a cha-cha instructor. A professor. A head of state. A housekeeper. A equestrian. A prisoner. A student. A teacher. A nun. A cabaret singer. A saint. A prostitute.”
