‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ sequel is coming next year – but it’s not a movie
A follow-up at last
Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of Tim Burton’s cult classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Over the years since its release in 1993, hopes and calls for a sequel to the beloved Halloween-meets-Christmas animation have gone unanswered—until now. However, unfortunately for Burton’s fans, it won’t be a movie, but a comic book sequel is set for release next year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Manga publisher Tokyopop has secured the licensing rights to produce the follow-up project to The Nightmare Before Christmas. The series will be written by DJ Milky with art from Studio DICE. The first story, titled Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero’s Journey, will follow the adventures of Jack Skellington’s ghost dog Zero as he gets lost in Christmas Town.
Tokyopop will be releasing the story in a series of full-colour single issues, before producing it in full-colour trade paperbacks and black and white “pocket-sized manga” volumes. More information about the series is expected to be released in coming months.
