First came the gathering of “the political parties of Bersatu, Umno, PAS, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Parti Warisan Sabah, and the PKR faction aligned with Datuk Seri Azmin Ali gathered for meetings that each tried to play down as “normal” despite their patently atypical nature,” as reported by The Malay Mail.
Then came PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim calling it a “betrayal”. Next, then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned. And before anyone knew it—the Yang di-Pertuan Agong appointed YB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia.
And finally, current Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin revealed his Cabinet members (full list here) yesterday evening. The biggest revelation is of course, the replacement of a Deputy Prime Minister with four senior ministers instead. In this case: Datuk Seri Azmin Ali (International Trade and Industry), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Defence), Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (Works), and Dr Mohd Razdi Md Jidin (Education). The new Cabinet of Malaysia will be sworn in today at 3pm.
As expected, Malaysians had mixed reactions and we’ve picked some of the best ones we’ve spotted on Twitter:
Well now you have to deal with us. We didn’t go easy on the people we actually chose so I wish you all the best. Now it’s time to face the people. Remember you work for us. Selamat bertugas.

New Minister Cabinet just named but already hv all kind of negative comments. This is what politics look like. It is not about whether the person is capable or not but bcoz he is not your team. Give them a chance & we will see. @PMOMalaysia @staronline #PerikatanNasional #TSMY

Sure, it’s easy to say “Let’s give this Cabinet a chance”.
And for the sake of Malaysia, we will do that.
But it doesn’t mean we – d old, sick & young who voted in GE14 – were any less betrayed.
It doesn’t mean we r any less disgusted or angry.
We will not forget this come GE15.

Let this new Cabinet be a lesson to all, especially certain politicians in Pakatan Harapan.
When men politick too much, the rakyat loses women like Hannah Yeoh and Yeo Bee Yin.

It takes 3 men to handle @yeobeeyin’s former portfolio. https://t.co/lAdANrSx2I

Me, trying to find and calculate the number of women + minorities in the Cabinet, the very one that just stated it wants to cater to ‘kepelbagaian kaum’. pic.twitter.com/whBDZ1eykw

Wanita dlm kabinet: 9/70 (12.8%)
Tidak capai sasaran 30%, sehari selepas Hari Wanita Sedunia.

At least if you went to Ikea for a cabinet you’d find more women there

A woman DPM in @drwanazizah is irreplaceable. His new line-up confirms it.

Not even anywhere close to the actual representation of Malaysia’s demographic. https://t.co/8AaAY0svRk

Muhyiddin’s cabinet have a total of 69 Ministers and Deputy Ministers in total.
Mahathir’s cabinet had a total of 51 Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
Basically in total, every month taxpayers are going to pay a total of extra 18 people’s salary.
RM9k for DM, RM15k for Minister

The list of our new cabinet looks kinda promising with strong ministers. CIMB Ceo as our menteri kewangan? Our mufti as menteri hal ehwal agama (jabatan PM)? And our abah has returned 3 menteri terus trending uish
— alia (@notrichasianyet) March 9, 2020
I wonder why Abah is including with those other trendings. Then I noticed, aha…the dark, tall and handsome guy is coming back! @Khairykj . Takziah & tahniah YB.
Anyhow, we are watching you pic.twitter.com/gJOBTohnEH

I would like to congratulate all the cabinet ministers appointed. All ministers have been filtered by SPRM and PDRM. With this new coalition and appointment i hope this new government will focus more on better country development #cabinet

This new line of cabinet proves that baby boomers are not ready to handover the governance to younger generations. https://t.co/LDTt7Y3yvs
