You may not be an OG and read the Marvel comics but you have seen the movies — a franchise which has turned into an entire Marvel Cinematic Universe spanning 20 films released so far since Ironman in 2008. Marvel, on the other hand, a comics company started by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, began its life in 1961 with The Fantastic Four.
Lee became quite a legend and was key to the creation of Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor and many other superheroes. Under his hand, many felt the stories had his colourful voice, leading to stories filled with social issues of the current times and characters who found strength where it matters most and thus making them worthy. And yet, there was also that touch of Stan Lee humour, evident even in his cameo appearances in all of the Marvel movies. All in all, they became stories of hope for many readers.

He changed the way we look at heroes, and modern comics will always bear his indelible mark. His infectious enthusiasm reminded us why we all fell in love with these stories in the first place. Excelsior, Stan.

At age 7, I drew this weird portrait of Stan Lee and asked my Mom to send it to him. Thankfully she didn’t because 30+ years later, I got to give it to the great one in person. Thanks for all the fun Stan #Excelsior pic.twitter.com/IpfYBSjWyf
