5. Enjoy Sidecar cocktails by Backdoor Bodega

When: 22 October 2021 to 22 November 2021

Where: Backdoor Bodega

Price: RM45 per bottle | RM120 for a set of three

When it comes to cognac cocktails, there’s arguably none as popular as the classic Sidecar. Named after a motorcycle sidecar owned by a gentleman in Paris and later popularised in London, the cocktail’s origin harks as far back as 1923, although its history has been heavily debated. To celebrate the anniversary of the iconic cocktail, The House of Remy Martin has partnered with Penang’s top speakeasy bar, Backdoor Bodega, to present two localised twists on the tipple, in addition to the original Remy Sidecar recipe.

Crafted specially by the team behind Backdoor Bodega, the three concoctions will be housed in 90ml customised bottles illustrated with their namesake vehicle. They will be available for sale individually as well as in a set of three—the latter of which comes with Remy Martin’s limited edition Charisma glasses.

6. Have a Ritzy Afternoon Tea with Decorte at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur

When: Every Saturday and Sunday throughout November 2021 (for the first 15 guests at the 12pm seating)

Where: The Lobby Lounge, The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur

For a limited time only this November, The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur and Japanese cosmetics brand Decorté have partnered to present a Ritzy Afternoon Tea inspired by a main ingredient in the Decorté AQ Meliority range: the Benifuki Green Tea. The rare green tea leaf is organically grown in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Yakushima, and its extract is said to help enhance and accelerate the skin’s ability to regenerate itself.

The afternoon tea menu reflects this unique ingredient, featuring savoury delights and desserts served on three tiers of fine china, along with a selection of fine teas. Every purchase of an afternoon set for two will come with the creme de la crème of the Decorté range, namely a AQ Meliority pampering kit worth RM350, available on a first come first serve basis.

Advanced reservation is required. For reservations, contact +6018 306 3188 (WhatsApp) or email [email protected].

7. Snap photos at Kwai Chai Hong’s latest installation, ‘Illuminating Shadows’

Giant Rabbit Sculpture

When: 29 October to 5 December 2021, 9am to 10pm daily

Where: Kwai Chai Hong

Following the success of its previous installations, the team behind Kwai Chai Hong has collaborated once again with Alice Chang of Lai Lai Studio on an experimental art installation involving a play on perspective using lights and shadows. Aptly called ‘Iluminating Shadows’, the colourful installation features a ‘Giant Rabbit Sculpture’ and ‘Chaser Rabbits’—paying homage to the Jade Rabbit and Running Horse lantern initially created in conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Vivid Streams

Also on display is ‘Vivid Streams’, featuring the artist’s take on the twists and turns in life. The display uses the same holographic material that’s constructed into the shape of the rabbit, here manipulated into various shapes embodying the fluidity of life. Interacting with the elements of the wind and sun, the shadows come to life with vibrant colours that represent the beauty in everything.
