3. INDULGE IN A DECADENT TEA TIME TREAT AT THE RUMA HOTEL AND RESIDENCES

Where: The Librari at The RuMa Hotel and Residences

When: 16 July – 27 August 2023, 2pm – 5pm

Price: RM158 nett per person or RM298 nett for two people

“I was in for a treat with this French-inspired afternoon tea. The ‘Indulgence à la Mode’ is an eight-piece set that focuses on the indulgent qualities of chocolate. Curated by two masters—Tai Boon Ee, the award-winning Pastry Chef of The RuMa Hotel and Residences and guest chef Philippe Kotzky, a master pâtissier and chocolatier from France—it combines a variety of techniques to form a delectable spread.

“I tried the Le Chocolat Fondant first, a warm dark chocolate molten cake with mango black and black pepper sorbet—it was love at first bite. The molten cake was rich yet not too sweet, paired with the sorbet gave it a nice, tangy bite. To continue the chocolate and fruit combo, I had the La Rose Signature, a dark chocolate raspberry mousse with raspberry coulis.

“The star of the show was undoubtedly the La Vanilla De Tahiti. Shaped like a vanilla pod, the dessert consists of a white chocolate caramel Tahiti vanilla ganache with salted caramel cremeux and crunchy roasted almonds. The combination of the sweet Tahitian vanilla blended well with the salted caramel and the almond’s crunchiness.

“I was starting to feel a little sugar rush, so to offset the sweetness, the platter also came with savoury bites. The Cameron Vegetable Tart—a beetroot, radish, milky corn, and zucchini—was a refreshing bite; and you can never go wrong with the Mille Feuille, made with asparagus, salmon, lemon, creme fraiche, and dill.

“To complete the platter there’s the Le Coco Tropical, a tropical-inspired coconut and pandan-infused cake that’s served on a cookie spoon; La Goute Tiramisu, a modern interpretation of the classic with mascarpone espresso coffee on crunchy dark cookies; and Le cookies Mangue Noisette, a mega hazelnut cookie with textures of mango. I finished the meal with my chocolate cravings satisfied for days! Overall, it’s an experience that you should try if you love and appreciate chocolate.” — Aina Nur Sarah, Senior Lifestyle Writer
