Alicia Vikander will be the new Lara Croft in ‘Tomb Raider’

The IT girl recently won an Oscar for her supporting role in The Danish Girl, and now, she has been cast as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. Not much is known about Lara Croft’s new adventure yet, other than the fact that it will be directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave), and the script is currently being redrafted by screenwriter Evan Daughtery (Divergent, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). The previous two Tomb Raider films proved that even with a stellar lead, a questionable plot will not win over critics. But of course, we’re hoping that won’t be the case for the reboot.

Alicia Vikander had a blockbuster of a year in 2015, having starred in The Danish Girl, Ex Machina, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. And it looks like she is continuing on a roll—she also stars alongside Matt Damon in the upcoming Bourne film (Jason Bourne), and just landed a franchise of her own—she’s definitely not going anywhere anytime soon.
