Runners and event attendees will be encouraged to take the official Planet or Plastic? pledge to reduce their use of single-use plastic, starting with the run itself. No single-use plastics will be allowed at the event and runners will need to bring along their own reusable water bottles.

Not-so-fun fact: Nine million tons of plastic waste end up in the ocean each year and Asia is responsible for most of it. These very plastic waste could potentially remain in the marine environment for 450 years or longer, according to various estimations.
