7 Things to do this weekend: 30 April – 1 May 2016

1. Two-day Arabic Calligraphy workshop with Zafuan Emborg at TH.inc Academy, Bangsar, 9am – 4pm, Sat and Sun

Unlike the usual calligraphy workshops, Arabic calligraphy can only be taught by someone who is certified with a license. Zafuan Embong is one such professional, having first started in 1988 when he won second prize at the Manifestasi Perdana Seni Khat. He will be exclusively hosting an intensive two-day course where you will learn the overview of the art as well as the technique starting from preparing the pen to writing basic words to designing a style and logos.

The workshop is priced at RM700 per person with all materials provided. For more information, visit their Facebook event page.

2. LELONG “Love Me Longer 旧物 久用” garage sale at Awesome Prologue, Taman Paramount, 12 – 6pm, Sat and Sun

Despite the name, the sale will not be held in a garage or an average space but presented in an art installation manner. Various kinds of preloved items will be displayed in a quirky and creative manner but most importantly, they are looking for a new home.

Entrance is free. For more information, visit their Facebook event page

3. Arts & Craft Weekend presented by Tiffin X Urbanscapes at Urbanscapes House, Medan Pasar, 11am – 7pm, 30 April – 2 May

Two of our current favourite things will be put together in one place this coming long weekend: Food and artsy workshops. There will be churros from Fingersmade, your fave Sangkaya coconut ice cream, Quarter’s psychedelic sodas and more. Once you’ve been fed, feel free to participate in a fun range of workshops such as making terrariums with Ohsum Mossum Terrariums (check out the video we did with them), food styling and photography by Justina Yong of Feast, tote bag painting by The Craft Crowd and more.

Entrance is free. For more information, visit their Facebook event page or to find out how to register for the workshops, visit their website

4. Try out Sitka Studio’s twice-a-month’s tasting menu, Sat

From the same minds of Sitka Restaurant comes Sitka Studio, a place that practises the same culinary beliefs but with a more innovative and playful twist. It’s only available twice a month, so if you missed the first one, be sure to make a reservation for the last session of the month this Saturday. Check out our full food review here

5. May I fan you down Food Market at DR.inc, 11am, Sun

DR.inc’s popular food affair is back again and you can expect the usual (and maybe some new) players in the house for a whole afternoon of gastronomical delights and icy treats.

For more information, visit their Facebook page

6. Watch: The new video for Yuna ft. Usher’s ‘Crush’

If you haven’t already, that is. (Why haven’t you?)

7. Shop at Pavilion KL to take part in their shopping specials for “Spring Into Style”

Hoping to get some shopping done this weekend? Pavilion KL is the place to go as they’ve put up various fashion displays and exclusive showcases-including our very own Buro 24/7 Malaysia corner where our fashion team has put up their fave SS16 picks and a chance for you to win an exclusive Buro goodie bag. That’s not all; Pavilion KL is giving away two return tickets to Croatia in a little contest.
