Bentley: The new Continental GT V8 is now in Malaysia—and here’s everything you need to know

When you think about the names or brands at the highest echelon, what comes to mind? In music, you have The Beatles and in football, there’s Brazil. In K-Pop, there’s BTS whereas fashion has Balmain. Another brand that begins with the letter “B” is Bentley—one of the most notable names in the field of luxury cars.

Malaysians can rejoice at the British automaker’s latest release in the country—a new version of its third generation Continental GT. In 2003, Bentley created the modern luxury Grand Tourer segment when the brand launched its first-generation Continental GT.

Performance

The Bentley Continental GT V8 is equipped with a new-generation 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine. With the 32-valve V8 petrol engine, the variant now has a top speed of 318 kilometres per hour and can achieve the century sprint in 4.0 seconds. Dual twin-stroll turbochargers are placed inside the “V” of the engine.

Moreover, the Continental GT V8 also comes with eight-speed Automatic transmission that’s complemented by refined efficiency. Without compromising the drive, the engine can de-activate four of its eight cylinders.

Exterior

As for how it looks on the outside,  the GT V8 features 20-inch, 10-spoke painted alloy wheels. Owners have the option of choosing from nine other designs—measuring up to 22-inches. What sets the GT V8 apart are its quad exhaust pipes and V8 badging to the front wings.

In addition to that, the latest LED Matrix technology is featured in the new V8 with headlights designed to resemble the finest cut-crystal glasses.

Interior

On the inside, the handcrafted cabin benefits from a combination of natural materials such as high quality leather and sustainably sourced veneers. Setting new industry standards in refinement and comfort, the new GT V8 comes with twenty-way adjustable leather seats. In addition to a monotone colour split, you can also opt for another four colour split options as well as decide on the Contrast Stitching, Hand Cross Stitch, and Piping.

The V8 fascia is adorned with new Crown Cut Walnut and the vehicle is equipped with a 10-speaker Bentley Audio system. The optional Bentley Rotating Display comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen that’s placed in a three-sided unit.

Features

Drivers get to experience the full breadth of performance with the Bentley Drive Dynamics selector—offering the range of performance the GT V8 has to offer. For exceptional handling, the variant is equipped with front and rear hollow, lightweight anti-roll bars whereas ride comfort and lateral roll are controlled with the Dynamic Ride System.

Depending on the selected mode, the dynamic character of the model is further improved with the addition of three-chamber air springs. The new GT also comes with an Active All-Wheel Drive System that varies the front-to-rear torque split. To aid manoeuvrability, the Electric Power-Assisted Steering utilises a variable rack ratio that also helps with maintaining stability at high speeds.

Other notable features include Park Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, and Active Lane Assist.
