#BUROEats: 10 New cafes and restaurants to visit in the Klang Valley in March 2023

Where to eat in the Klang Valley this March: a fiery northern Indian dining venue at The Five, a Nyonya steamboat restaurant in Pavilion Elite, and a charming wabi-sabi cafe in Cheras are among the standouts of the month!

1. Jwala

With a name that means “flame” in Sanskrit, Jwala makes a fiery debut in Damansara Heights to present northern Indian cuisine to discerning diners. The upscale restaurant boasts custom-made copper-clad tandoors that deliver the “finest degree of charcoal grilling”, promising a theatrical dining experience with great attention to detail. Chef Vinu Raveendran helms the kitchen, armed with years of experience working in restaurants across India, Spain and Dubai. Patrons can look forward to a smoky display of meats, biryani, and artisanal breads imbued with aromatic spices and modern twists.

Ara Damansara has welcomed a new cafe in the form of Bijou, serving coffee and pastries in a minimalistic setting. Located behind Cantara Residences, the cosy space is a warm, laid-back hideout to fuel up on caffeine while listening to Oasis playing in the background. Ample sunlight illuminates the space during the day, with pretty nooks and corners setting the scene for social media shutterbugs.

3. RasaNya Steamboat

Set in a discreet location on the eighth floor of Pavilion Elite, RasaNya Steamboat is a hidden gem for Nyonya cuisine that first opened back in November 2022. Priding itself on being Malaysia’s first Nyonya steamboat restaurant, the Muslim-friendly spot offers nine types of broths that highlight Peranakan flavours. The menu comprises fresh premium seafood ingredients such as Hokkaido scallop and Canadian lobster, as well as fine butcher selections including Japanese Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Beef and Australian lamb. Other options include Baba Nyonya appetisers and dishes, each plated and presented with unique cultural elements taken into consideration. Top it all off with the rich Peranakan decor—featuring classic meets contemporary tiles, textures and fixtures—and guests are sure to have a pleasant all–round dining experience.

Over in Cheras, House of Wheat made its mark in February with coffee, pastries and brunch dishes on its soft launch menu. Distinguished by a cute koala illustration adorning its signage, the new bakery cafe features understated interiors and furniture in a predominantly brown and neutral colour palette. The Italian-inspired Maritozzo cream roll is a signature here, while those looking for something more filling can opt for a sourdough toast or other hot meals.
