Take a peek inside the new Prada Caffè in Harrods, London

Bookmark this for your next trip to London: Prada has recently unveiled a pop-up cafe at the world-famous Harrods department store in Knightsbridge and it is every fashion addict’s dream!

Designed to add a new dimension to the Italian fashion house and provide customers with a unique and engaging experience, Prada Caffè features the brand’s visual hallmarks—from the decor and tableware down to the menu and dining ambience. In other words, visitors can expect a taste of Milan in a space that’s quintessentially Prada.

You won’t miss the entrance at the corner of Hans Road, thanks to the juxtaposition of its mint green latticed storefront against Harrod’s Edwardian terracotta facade. Step inside and you’ll find that the walls, ceilings, furniture, and fixtures are also awash in the brand’s iconic hue.

The black-and-white chequered floors mirror that of the historic Prada boutique on Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, whilst the floral bas-reliefs that adorn the walls evoke some of Prada’s flagship stores across the world. Velvet chairs in a different shade of green (pistachio?) complement sleek black marble tables, with statement lights hanging from the immaculately corniced ceiling. Think Wes Anderson meets Milanese aesthetic and you’ll get the picture.

Even the tableware is original and hand-selected by Prada to match the interiors, ranging from pale-blue Japanese porcelain tea and coffee cups inspired by ancient Celadon pottery, to blown-glass crystal glassware adorned with the house’s signature triangular motif.

Green columns support a flight of stairs leading up to the mezzanine level, which serves as an elevated seating area overlooking the marble-wrapped patisserie counter. Speaking of, pastries take center stage at the cafe, displayed both on the aforementioned central counter as well as the wall behind it. Expertly crafted with modern techniques and classic ingredients, the selection comprises both sweet and savoury delights including 72 per cent dark chocolate cake with raspberry jelly and chocolate mousse, apricot sacher-torte, and fresh fruit and custard tartlets.

Meanwhile, the food and drinks menu will cover everything with a modern twist on traditional Italian offerings including breakfast, lunch, dinner, small bites, and aperitivo. Options include sandwiches, pizza, risotto, buffalo mozzarella, and seafood dishes, alongside spritz and negroni-based aperitifs plus an array of signature cocktails. Further, the wine list spans all of Italy, with labels from Sicily to Piedmont. Need we say more?

Prada Caffè will be open from 31 March 2023 to 7 January 2024, from 9 AM to 9 PM (Monday to Saturday) and from 12 PM to 6 PM on Sunday. It will be joined by an outdoor stall in front of its entrance, offering a range of ice creams and sorbets. Reservations can be made via Harrods
