We’ve covered Malaysian-inspired cocktail recipes before but now it’s time for some Chinese New Year inspiration to take centerstage and alcohol educators RAD Impressions (who conducts regular cocktail-making workshops like this one) has generously shared three easy recipes you can try at home!
15ml umeshu (plum wine)
30ml grapefruit tonic
Top Up Tonic
Build all ingredients in glass with ice.
15ml pandan cinnamon syrup
20ml oolong tea
20ml chrysanthemum tea
200g Chinese palm sugar
2 nos pandan leaf
2 nos cinnamon stick
Make a 2:1 syrup with the Chinese palm sugar. Bring to simmer and add in the pandan leaves and cinnamon stick.
Roll all ingredients. Strain into chilled glass.

20ml lemon juice
10ml red date & sour plum syrup
Dried red dates
200g instant red date tea
Make a 2:1 syrup with instant red date tea.
Shake all ingredients in a shaker. Strain into a chilled glass.
