#BuroEats: 5 New places to visit in KL for May 2017

1. VCR Bangsar

Fans of VCR need not travel all the way to Pudu for their favourite cuppa as the cafe has opened a second branch in Bangsar with a few special additions to the menu. With items such as potato waffle with fried chicken to the Big Breakfast to Soft Shell Crab Burger, it has rapidly become one of the hottest cafes on Jalan Telawi be it for brunch, dinner or just coffee and cakes.

Address: 31, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours: 8:30am – 11:00pm

Telephone: 03 2110 2330

2. Five-HT

Will Bangsar ever stop producing new places to eat? We doubt it and Five-HT shys away from joining the cafe scene there but offers modern Japanese fare with a decent and unique variety of coffee drinks. Imagine lattes with a dash of truffle oil or blended with avocados which, while both sounds bizarre, are actually not too bad.

Address: 50 Jalan Maarof, Bangsar Baru, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours: 8am – 6pm (Mon), 8:00am – 10:30pm (Tues-Fri), 10.00am – 10:30pm (weekends)

Telephone: 03 2201 0101

3. Fittie Sense

Fittie Sense bangsar

Fittie Sense marks the third Bangsar contender in this list of new places to eat this month but it also has its differences that sets it apart from the others. A healthier difference. Case in point: Pancakes made from lentil and a quiche-like tart but with a quinoa crust.

Address: 23A, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours: 10am – 5pm, closed on Tuesdays

Telephone: 03 2858 4023

4. Whip Up KL

Pudu has a new cafe in its hood but the spotlight here is on their desserts. Perhaps a play on its name, customers can even build their own tiramisu. The coffee here is strong, if that’s the way you like it, and the other sweet creations are fanciful enough to be Instagram-worthy.

Address: 270, Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah, Pudu, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Telephone: 016 254 1351

5. Colony KL

Remember Hoppers KL in our list of dessert cafes to try? Right above it now is an eatery featuring a unique fusion of Burmese, Sri Lankan and Indian culinary style with a Malaysian twist. Run by the same owners, the interior is as pleasing as the food. Try the duck confit biryani or the locally farmed lamb ribs cooked in spiced Karma Cola!

Address: 76, Jalan Pudu, Kuala Lumpur, 55100 Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours: 12pm – 9pm, closed on Mondays

Telephone: 012 360 9853
