When: 18 August – 2 September 2023 | 5pm – 11pm (Mondays to Fridays), 11am – 11pm (weekends and public holidays)

Are you ready to get lit? Carlsberg is about to fire up your weekend with its Real Spicy Real Smooth pop-up event! If you think you can handle the heat, head down to JioSpace, PJ for some mouth-tingling delights. From MonsterChef’s devil’s curry pocket bun, nasi lemak rice bomb, and Bean Jr’s mala tau fu fah to Churn’s beer-gato, these treats are made to go perfectly with a refreshing bottle of Carlsberg Smooth Draught. 

Apart from the food, there are also cocktail workshops, Gumme beaded jewellery activity and a bunch of interactive games to entertain you all night long. Further, expect electrifying performances from local and international DJs such as Inquisitive, Bass Agents, Ken Fung and more.

When: 1820 August 2023 | 5pm-12am (Friday) and 12pm-12am (Saturday – Sunday) 

It’s going to be a weekend filled with tantalising flavours, great music, and a never ending flow of Guinness. Gather your friends for a food adventure at the Guinness Flavour by Fire Festival and indulge in a plethora of food—from smoky meats, artisanal burgers, and grilled lamb ribs to desserts with a hint of Guinness.

Some notable chefs at the festival include Chef Franky of Arthur’s Storehouse, chefs Johnny and Sherson of Kitchen Mafia, and more—so you definitely don’t want to miss out.

4. EXPLORE THE YAYASAN SIME DARBY ARTS FESTIVAL

Where: KLPAC

When: 1920 August 2023 | 11am till late

Price: Free entry

After five years, Malaysia’s biggest arts event has finally returned! The festival, entitled Shout it Out: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, is presented by Yayasan Sime Darby and The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC), and aims to highlight issues that matter to Malaysians while celebrating the local art scene. 

The festival has over 350 free art activities for festival-goers to enjoy. Expect to see a variety of art that will leave you in awe—from contemporary to the traditional, mainstream to the experimental, and more.

5. SING ALONG AT ‘THE ALL-STAR CONCERT: THE ICONS’ 

Where: Jaotim KL

When: 20 August 2023 | 8.30pm

Price: RM100 per person 

Sing your heart out to the greatest hits from some of the most iconic singers of our time, as local vocalist Melissa Anne takes to the stage at Jaotim KL. This tribute night that will honour legendary and new icons like Mariah Carey, Adele, Beyonce, Rihanna, and more!

6. LEARN HOW TO CROCHET A JUMBOMALLOW BAG

Where: Root Studio, K-GF-06, Conezion Putrajaya

Price: RM100 per person

Root Studio is a cosy space that offers a variety of activities like tufting and painting, but the shop’s expertise lies in crocheting. It doesn’t just offer a variety of crochet workshops, but it also sells everything you need to start crocheting. Not only that, the space is also a nursery, so if you’ve been wanting a cute plant collection, here’s a good place to start.

This weekend, get crafty by learning how to make your own jumbomallow bag. You will learn the crocheting techniques required to make this handmade bag during the workshop, and since personalisation is all the rage these days, you can even boast about how there’s only one piece in the world—handmade by you!

7. TAKE A PLANT HOME THANKS TO THE UNIQLO x TAMAN TUGU INITIATIVE

Where: Taman Tugu Malaysia  

When: Every Saturday | 8.30am – 10.30am

Weekends reconnecting with nature will do wonders for you. Hike on the trails at Taman Tugu Malaysia, then bring a piece of nature back home, courtesy of Uniqlo and Taman Tugu. There are 200 species of plants available for distribution to the public every Saturday, as part of Uniqlo Malaysia’s initiative in support of Taman Tugu’s conservation efforts.
