And a silver sixpence in her shoe

#WednesdayWishlist: Something old, new, borrowed, and blue

Cai Mei Khoo, Editor-in-Chief: Fish earrings from Tiffany & Co.

Symbolic of love, purity and fidelity, the colour blue has always been connected to weddings – early wedding gowns used to be in blue. These days, though, brides have a variety of options to add that ‘something blue’ to their look. While copies of the Duchess of Cambridge’s engagement ring continue to be extremely popular, my pick would be these fish earrings from Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Book 2016 collection. Featuring cushion-cut tanzanites and fish of round diamonds and tourmalines, these earrings symbolise the perfect union.

Loh Wei Yeen, Fashion & Beauty Writer: Chanel vintage logo plaque necklace

While some might scoff at the idea of having “something old” on them during their big day, I wouldn’t mind donning this vintage Chanel necklace that would be an excellent choice to go along with my dream wedding ensemble. I’m not one who would give notice to traditional rites or old adage, but this one in particular gives me reason enough to pull off this accessory with aplomb, all thanks to the choker trend that’s coming back in season now and the fact that it’s Chanel, obviously.

Rachel Au, Lifestyle Writer: Kate Middleton’s Alexander McQueen bridal shoes

For something borrowed, who better to look for than the Duchess of Cambridge and while her custom designed Alexander McQueen wedding dress would be my ultimate choice, I really shouldn’t take it away from her daughter… so the shoes will do. They may not have made much of an appearance on her big day but it’s still something of hers. The dainty pair of heels resembles some of the features of the dress with its impressive lace detailing handstitched over the ivory duchess satin. And since I’d much prefer a knee-length wedding dress, this will do (and show) perfectly.

Tan Su Fen, Editorial Assistant: Miu Miu gold-plated topaz headband

While my dream wedding dress comes from the couture archive, I would love to pair it with “something new”—I can’t refuse a symbol of optimism for the future after all. One thing I can do without on my big day though, is a veil. In its place, this Miu Miu headband will make an exceptional contemporary bride’s accessory. The edgy design punctuated by the amber-tone topaz gems is the embodiment of modern femininity.
