The Chanel boot gets a makeover for the AW17 season

2017 is the year of Gabrielle; from the function-and-style Chanel Gabrielle bag to its first fragrance in 15 years—the Gabrielle Chanel perfume, the French maison is celebrating the year of its founder with new (cult) bag and scent, but this round, Karl is evoking nostalgia instead, with a new-and-improved Chanel boot that’s on its way to ‘It’ shoe status for Autumn/Winter’17.

Shadowing the huge success of the revival of the slingback pumps—after Karl paid an homage in his Autumn/Winter 2015 show—the spotlight is on the boots this Autumn/Winter season, by drawing on key elements from the Chanel founder’s own closet. Although she has never included them in her collections, they were her personal favourites—worn on strolls and on horse rides around the castle grounds.

For the Autumn/Winter’17 pre-collection, the Chanel boots are going modern with a two-tone suede and satin rendition that exudes that trendy yet elegant allure. Standing at 8.5cm tall, each boot comes with the signature Gabrielle Chanel (subtitled Coco) engraved on the hem. Available in an array of colours, these boots are bound to be a conversation starter.
