The 2018 Met Gala theme and hosts—revealed

There were rumours of a religion theme earlier this year, but now, the theme for 2018’s Met Gala has been confirmed and officially announced, and it’ll be “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. For the first time ever, the event—often regarded as the biggest night of fashion—will be taking place in a trinity of locations: the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the medieval galleries at the Met’s Fifth Avenue location and the Cloisters (a museum specialising in European art) in Upper Manhattan, New York. The exhibition will feature one-of-a-kind pieces borrowed from the Vatican, art from the Met’s own collection and 150 designers (Coco Chanel, John Galliano and more) whose garments feature Catholicism elements.

Like the previous years, the main event of the highly anticipated spring exhibition will be hosted by different fashion A-listers (last year’s being Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady), and the co-hosts for 2018 will be Met Gala darling, Rihanna, Donatella Versace (who’s attended 16 galas), and Amal Clooney. The power trio will be joining forces with Anna Wintour during fashion’s biggest party. Can we expect an array of religious iconography on the red carpet? Guess we’ll find out on the first Monday of May 2018.

Stay tuned for more details.
