Style Spotlight: All the best looks from the Barbie press tour

We’re days away from the Barbie premiere. To liven up the pink energy, let’s look back on some of the best looks seen at the worldwide press tour. Living up to expectations as the main character, Margot Robbie has donned outfits inspired by limited-edition Barbies, making her debut as the iconic figure truly spectacular.

Likewise, the cast members of the movie, such as Issa Rae, Emma Mackey, Kate Mckinnon and more, walked the pink carpet in pink and sparkles, while Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu arrived with clean, slicked-back hair—showing off strong ‘Kenergy’ on that we love to see. Curious for more? Scroll down to see all our favourite looks from the Barbie press tour.

Here, Margot Robbie is dressed in a vintage Atelier Versace Mini Dress from AW94, and we’re not sure if we’re blinded by her beauty or the bling (we honestly think it’s both!). Styled foxily only with transparent kitten heels, this look made us focus only on her and the stunning piece that she’s wearing without going over the top.

Inspired by the ‘Day to Night’ Barbie from 1985, Robbie is dressed in Versace in Seoul. The bright pink suit with a white collar displays how Barbie stays glamorous even when heading to work. Showing impeccable attention to detail, the look is completed with a vintage pink phone, a wide-brimmed hat, a pink top-handle Versace bag and heels of the same colour scheme. Later that night, this Barbie was ready to party—in a sparkling crystal bodice with a pink tiered midi skirt.

It’s giving chic, class and elegance—this sparkly Schiaparelli dress accentuates her figure and is complemented by a slicked-back hairdo and velvet gloves that scream ’90s Western glamour. The tulle frills at the bottom give the LBD a cute Barbie twist. To top the look off, the actress adorns a diamond necklace and earrings that complete the vintage black outfit.

Here’s one last look at Robbie before we move on to the rest of the cast. This one says Sleeping Beauty starring Barbie, drawing inspiration from the ‘Enchanted Evening’ doll made in the 1960s, which has now become a rare collector’s item. The soft pink custom couture piece by Vivienne Westwood is gracefully snatched, with the brand’s signature corset bodice giving structure to the dress. A real posh princess moment befitting of the press tour in England.

Rae nailed it in this pink velvet maxi number. Designed by Marc Bouwer, the dress starts with a funky bow-tie detail with an elegant chest reveal right below via a sexy cut-out detail. Elevating the look is a pair of sparkling drop earrings, a diamond bracelet, layered rings and a dainty fuchsia clutch. She looks so good in pink, it’s almost hard to see how she hates the colour, as confessed in an interview with The Guardian.

Dua Lipa and Versace—a true match made in heaven. It’s no surprise that Dua shows up in Versace, considering how the collaboration of the two in Cannes screamed Barbiecore throughout the whole collection. Although expected, she didn’t fail to drop jaws with her colourful chainmail dress from the Versace Pre-Fall 2023 collection. Also, those Y2K-style butterfly and gold coin jewellery (from the same brand) deserve a moment of their own.

This Ken is a fashionista

Did you know Ryan Gosling actually doubted his ability to play Ken before agreeing to star in the movie? We don’t know about you, but we can’t imagine a more suitable Ken than Gosling. He has been rocking a variety of pastel outfits throughout the press tour, but this was, with no doubt, one of our top favourites. Look at him fully embracing his inner Ken with this light pink Gucci suit. Styled by celebrity stylist Mark Avery, this Ken in pink sure looked like he was in his element.

Definitely a star on the rise, Simu Liu plays one of the Ken dolls in the movie. The actor dons a pastel blue Versace suit with a matching utilitarian vest, showing an unconventional twist to a classic blazer. No matter what storyline he’s playing in the movie, we’ll want to see more of him if his outfits are as good as his pink carpet looks.

After seeing Finneas’ pink carpet look, he surely deserves to be a Ken doll if the movie was casting a singer. His ‘Kenergy’ is off the charts with his floral printed Hawaiian shirt underneath the white blazer. It’s amazing how he still looks beachy and breezy, even when he’s dressed up in a suit.

Guest but best dressed

Alexa, play Black Barbie by Nicky Minaj. This is absolutely a finale-worthy look. British model Leomie Anderson flaunts her Barbie-like figure as she appears in pink jewelled heels. Here, she wears a light pink bra and sequined skirt by Nensi Dojaka. She’s got the details down to a T, with baby hair styled into lovely little hearts while carrying a heart-shaped purse—a true Barbie at heart.
